ACCOMPLISMENTS OF YOUR NATIONAL GUARD ASSOCIATION (State/National)

| Your Association has been actively involved in legislative affairs relating to the National Guard, both on a State and National level. From this involvement has come increased benefits for our Guard members. This list below is not all inclusive, but represents just some of those benefits: |

Increase in funding for equipment purchases for the National Guard. |

2. |
Commissary shopping privileges that did not previously exist unless on AT status. |
| |
3. |
Montgomery G.I. Bill - permanent entitlement to G.I. Bill benefits and first G.I. Bill to encompass Guard and Reserve participants. |

4. |
Enactment of the Reserve Component Survivor Benefit Plan (RC-SBP). |
| |
5. |
Federal law prohibiting the veto of OCONUS training by governors. |
| |
6. |
First $15,000 of National Guard pay exempted from State of Mississippi income tax. (This alone saves the average Guardsman over $300 a year in State Income Tax.) |

7. |
An annual $2,100 allowance for educational assistance for members of the Mississippi National Guard who are enrolled in a college, university or recognized vocational program within the state. |

8. |
Authority for withholding premiums for NGAMS Life Insurance from monthly UTA pay. Premiums are deducted automatically each month from your UTA check. |
| |
9. |
Distinctive National Guard Automobile Tag for members of the Guard. There is no dollar savings here, but the tag on your cars says you are proud of the Mississippi National Guard. |

10. |
Out-of-state Guard members attending Mississippi colleges are to be classified as residents of Mississippi for tuition fees. |
